Husqvarna sponsored Chainsaw Carver Marina Cole

Super talented AND an Alberta girl! Marina Cole comes to us from Medicine Hat!

For the last five years Marina had fallen in love with sculpting wood with chisels. It wasn't until April 9,2016 when she was able to pick up a chainsaw and experience the awesome feeling of bringing large pieces to life. As she says it "I have since been propelled into the fantastic life of a chainsaw artist"

She was drawn to wood sculpting when she had seen a mesmerizing Japanese hand carved dragon. At that very moment she immediately searched out the only carving club in her town, the Medicine Hat Wood Carver's Club.

Here's how she tell's it; I had met so many amazing Carver's who helped me in so many was find my dream. It was then a man from my town had contacted the club asking if I could carve one of my wood spirits in his tree. I said I could. When I had a look at his tree I soon realized I needed a bigger tool. His tree was approximately 6-7' tall and around 20-25 inches around. I asked for his patence at that time. I knew I needed to over come the fear that had initially kept me away from the chainsaw in the first place. Not long after my family and I were visiting a sportsman show in Edmonton as we usually do every year, when I ran into an amazing chainsaw artist, Kevin Lewis. He was so kind and put me onto my journey by inviting my husband and I to British Columbia to learn my way around the saw and tools that I would be using. He had advised me then to join a local competition, I did and the rest is history.

Stop by and say hi, Marina will be working on her skills the whole weekend.
