Northern Lights Fly Fishers - TUC
Booth: 484
Description:
The Northern Lights Fly Fishers (NLFF) is a community of passionate anglers dedicated to the art of fly fishing and the science of conservation. With a history rooted in the founding of the first Trout Unlimited Canada chapter in Western Canada (1978), our club has evolved into a premier hub for fly tyers and fishers in the Edmonton area. What We Do
We balance a love for the craft with a commitment to the environment. Our activities span three core pillars:
Conservation: We are active stewards of Albertas waters. From redd counts and streambank restoration on the Raven River to award-winning grayling research on the Pembina River, we believe that if we "take care of the fish, the fishing will take care of itself."
Education: We believe in passing on the tradition. Since 1996, we have helped over 6,000 children tie their first "wooly bugger" at local sportsmen's shows. We host annual sold-out fly-fishing classes and weekly meetings featuring world-renowned guest speakers and expert fly-tying demonstrations.
Advocacy: As a respected voice in the province, we work closely with the Alberta Government and the Fisheries Stakeholder Advisory Committee to advocate for effective fisheries management and sustainable recreational fishing.
Join the Community
Whether you are a master tyer or have never held a fly rod, our weekly meetings are open to anyone interested in the sport. Come share a passion for the art, the science, and the water.
Our Mission: To foster a unique local club atmosphere while working as a dedicated chapter of Freshwater Conservation Canada to protect and restore our cold-water resources
